Please follow this guide to go step by step on setting up your DIC-23216 product with your Android phone.
There are 2 versions of the DIC-23216, one supplied with the adapter and one without, based on this the below steps may differ but the overall setup steps remain the same.
Before you start:
- Setup the DIC-23216 indoors and in the same room as your Wi-Fi router, after setup it can be installed.
- Ensure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the DIC-23216 will also be connected to.
- Ensure the time settings in your phone is set to 24 hour mode.
- IMPORTANT: The DIC-23216 operates on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Please ensure your Wi-Fi router is set to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. If in doubt please refer to the user manual of your router or contact your internet service provider.
Prepare your DIC-23216:
| Step 1: Remove the DIC-23216 from its housing by removing the security screw at the bottom of the device. |  |
| Step 2: Pull out the rubber seal from the charger port at the bottom of the device. |  |
| Step 3: Remove the face plate by pulling it up from the bottom, this will reveal the ON/OFF and FACTORY RESET buttons. |  |
| Step 4: IMPORTANT Using the supplied Micro USB cable, plug this into the bottom of the DIC-23216, this will begin to charge the product. If the charge is too low out of the box then the setup will not be able to be completed. |  |
| Step 5: There is a rubber cover over the ON/OFF and RESET buttons, please pull this open to reveal the Micro SD card slot. IMPORTANT: you must insert a micro SD card in order for the DIC-23216 to receive regular performance updates and to store local recordings. |  |
| Step 5Bis t might be that there is a rubber cover that you first have to remove using a sharp instrument. (there a two versions of this DIC) |  |
Prepare your phone and application:
| Step 1: Download the Smartwares View app from the Google Play or Apple App Store |  |
| Step 2: IMPORTANT Allow all the permissions, these give the application permission to access settings and features of your phone in order to allow the application to fully function. |  |
| Step 3: Open the app on your phone and touch the plus symbol to begin. |  |
| Step 4: Enter a name for your doorbell, this can be anything you like. |  |
| Step 5: Enter the DID code. Press the "Scan DID Label" to open the camera on your phone, point the camera at the QR code located on the back of the DIC-23216. The details will be automatically filled. |   |
| Step 6: Enter the Security code. Default is 123456 and click "OK" or "SAVE". |  |
Getting the DIC-23216 connected to your phone and Wi-Fi:
| Step 1: You will now see a screen showing Wi-Fi setup, please select "SETUP" |  |
| Step 2: IMPORTANT Press the ON/OFF button located at the bottom of the DIC-23216 for 2 seconds and release, the device will turn on and the main button will begin to flash white and blue. |  |
| Step 3: Select the magnifying glass icon, your phone will now display a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password for the network. |  |
| Step 6: Now select "NEXT" and the DIC-23216 will ring to indicate setup has been completed. |  |
FREE Cloud storage with Dropbox or Google Drive.
After setup is completed you will be prompted to setup cloud storage. This will allow the DIC-23216 to upload the recorded footage into the cloud. This is optional and can be setup later from within the advanced menu. To setup cloud storage follow the details and screen. You will need to already have a Dropbox or Google Drive account.
Your DIC-23216 is all setup and is ready to be installed.
